I'm Passionate About Teaching!
Hi! I'm Miss Phylicia, and I've always wanted to be a teacher!
I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Fayetteville State University, an advanced master's degree in reading education from UNC-Charlotte, and am certified as a reading specialist! I have been teaching for over a decade and was awarded Teacher of the Year while teaching in Durham Public Schools. I love educating children!
More To Learn Academy began in 2012 when I was a classroom teacher and noticed children were reading significantly below grade level and needed additional support outside of the classroom. I started offering reading tutoring after school to provide reading intervention to support these students.
After receiving an advanced Master’s Degree in 2018, in Reading Education and becoming certified as a Reading Specialist, my after-school tutoring officially became More To Learn Tutoring LLC.
Our online preschool was added in 2020 to ensure families have access to a preschool program where their preschoolers receive a strong foundation in literacy before entering kindergarten.
The combination of our online private reading tutoring and online preschool is More To Learn Academy.
At More To Learn Academy we serve children ages 3 - 5 years through our online preschool program and provide private 1-1 reading tutoring to students in grades K - 12 through our online private tutoring program.
I thank God for gracing me with the gift of teaching children how to read. It is my absolute pleasure to serve in this way.
