Your child will be more than prepared for kindergarten through More To Learn Academy's pre-kindergarten. With a curriculum focused on building academic foundations, your pre-kindergartner will develop life long skills to support their learning.

Hi! I'm Ms. Phylicia and I'm the owner of More To Learn Academy. In addition to all the fantastic enrichment teachers, I'll be your child's personal prekindergarten teacher. So after you join, I'll stay in close contact to make sure you have a great experience!
For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a teacher. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and an advanced master's degree in reading education! I am also a certified reading specialist! I have been teaching for more than 10 years and still love educating children!

Answers to Your Online PreK Questions
What specific reading-readiness skills are taught in live sessions?
Students are taught the essential pillars of literacy—phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—to build a strong reading foundation. Many students progress to fluent reading during the school year, gaining both confidence and a lasting love of learning.
Can families meet the teachers virtually before enrolling?
Families may schedule an information session with the head of school before enrolling. After enrolling, families schedule a meet and greet with their child's teacher before the first day of class.
Can we enroll mid year?
Yes.
Do I need to supervise my child?
Yes and no. Your child may need help with basic computer skills, like clicking links or managing drawing tools. Being nearby and able to offer quick assistance can be very helpful—especially in the beginning. However, you won’t need to actively participate in every lesson. Simply stay within earshot so your child can focus on learning while still having your support if they need it.
My child already spends a lot of time on screens. Does this replace the screen time?
Not necessarily. Your child's prekindergarten counts as school time—focused on learning and skill-building rather than entertainment. If you choose to let your child use a tablet or watch TV for fun later, that’s your decision. Our live sessions and activities are interactive and educational, so they differ from passive screen use you might limit or monitor.
What math skills will my child be taught?
Number sense and counting, shapes and spatial awareness, measurement, pattern recognition, and problem-solving. Children explore these concepts through interactive games, hands-on activities, and lively discussions, helping them develop strong foundational math skills while staying engaged and having fun
Do I need to buy supplies?
Yes. We recommend having a small collection of craft materials and basic school supplies for both online class activities and at-home projects. Families enrolled in MTL Preschool Online also receive a newsletter outlining upcoming crafts, project details, and other important program information.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, you may unenroll anytime.
